January 25

Sing a Song

I'm a Little Snowman
(Tune: I'm a Little Teapot)

I'm a little snowman short and fat.
Here is my scarf and here is my hat.
When the snow is falling come and play.
Build a snowman every day.

Watch

Bert is all dressed for winter.

Try This

Make your own paper dolls with paper winter clothes (hats, scarves, mittens) and have your child dress the doll. You can laminate these to make them last longer. You can even use a full body photo of your child as the paper doll. Doing this activity will help your child understand the basics of symbolism, a necessary skill to begin reading.

Read a Book

Here are some book recommendations for today. Check out the picture book collection at your local library, where there are lots of books to choose from! Find nearby libraries

  • Froggy gets dressed by Jonathan London; illustrated by Frank Remkiewicz
  • The jacket I wear in the snow by Shirley Neitzel; pictures by Nancy Winslow Parker
  • Under my hood I have a hat by Karla Kuskin; illustrated by Fumi Kosaka
