Sing a Song

It is important to know your address and telephone number. Here are two songs to help you learn your information.

I Know My Phone Number
Tune: Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star

I know my phone number, yes, I do.
Listen now, I'll say it for you:
(YOUR TELEPHONE NUMBER HERE; for example 555 2323)
I know my phone number, yes, I do.
Listen now, I'll say it for you.

It's Important That I Know my Address
Tune: If You’re Happy And You Know It

It's important that I know my address,
It's important that I know my address.
If you listen to me now,
I will say it, I know how.
It's important that I know my address.
(Child says address at the end of the song.)

Try This

Talk about being safe and how important it is. Make sure everyone in the family knows their name, address, telephone number and what to do in case of emergency. Be sure important information is in a child’s backpack or tote bag. Sesame Street Communities provides a great activity to help with this.

Read a Book

Here are two book recommendations for today. Check out the picture book collection at your local library, where there are lots of books to choose from! Find nearby libraries

  • Bunnies and butterflies in the backyard; and, The pirates who know where you live: stories that help children learn and remember their address and telephone number by Vernon Jackman; illustrated by Jeannisse Theagene
  • Bully by Laura Vaccaro Seeger
