Sing a Song

If You're Happy and You Know It

If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands.
If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands.
If you’re happy and you know it, your face will surely show it.
If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands.

Try This

It can be hard for a child to tell you how they are feeling. Take photos of your child pretending to be happy, sad, angry, confused, along with any other emotion that might be helpful. Print out and cut so that just your child’s face shows. Laminate. Make simple puppets using popsicle sticks and laminated faces. It might be easier for your child to hold up a puppet instead of telling you how they feel.

Read a Book

Here are some book recommendations for today. Check out the picture book collection at your local library, where there are lots of books to choose from! Find nearby libraries

  • The Feelings Book by Todd Parr
  • When Sophie Gets Angry--Really, Really Angry by Molly Bang
  • In My Heart: a Book of Feelings by Jo Witek; illustrated by Christine Roussey
