Sing a Song
I have five pets
That I’d like you to meet
They all live on Mulberry Street.
This is my chicken
He comes running whenever I call.
This is my duckling
He says: Quack, quack, quack
As he shakes the water from his back.
Here is my rabbit, he runs from his pen
Then I must get him back again.
This is my kitten
Her coat is black and white
She loves to sleep on my pillow at night.
Here is my puppy who has lots of fun
He chases the others and makes them run.

Talk about the animals that your child sees on a regular basis. Talk about if they are wild animals, farm animals, pets, etc, and why they are in that category. For example, "Squirrels are wild animals because they live outside and they find food on their own." Talking about similar traits helps children learn to categorize and sort objects.
Read a Book
